About TravelRulesCheck
TravelRulesCheck is run by Alts Directories, a small UK publisher of free tools and directories. It turns official travel rules into calculators you can use in a few seconds.
Where the rules come from
- Schengen and EES: the European Commission (short-stay calculator page, EES page), travel-europe.europa.eu, the Schengen Borders Code on EUR-Lex and GOV.UK.
- Power banks: the UK CAA and each airline’s own baggage page, linked on every airline page.
- Liquids, medicines, vapes, batteries and duty free: GOV.UK, the US TSA, FAA and CBP, the European Commission and Your Europe, linked on each page.
- ETA, ESTA and ETIAS: GOV.UK, the official ESTA site and CBP, and the official ETIAS site.
- Travel advice by country: the FCDO’s foreign travel advice, read from the GOV.UK Content API and refreshed automatically every day. We quote it word for word under the Open Government Licence v3.0 and link to the full advice; GOV.UK is the authoritative version.
We last checked every source on 22 October 2026. We don’t use forums, blogs or other calculators as sources.
Limits
This is guidance, not legal advice. Border guards and airlines make the final decision. The calculators run entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to us; the Schengen calculator saves your trips only in your own browser so they’re there next time.
Sister site
We also run eSIMAlts, which compares travel eSIM prices.
